GarageDoorNet ("we", "us") provides business software for garage door companies. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, company name, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text).
- Business data you enter: customers, properties, quotes, jobs, schedules, invoices, payments, and photos you upload. This data belongs to your company.
- Usage and technical data: log data, browser type, and error reports that help us keep the service reliable.
- Site analytics (first-party): on our public pages we record the page viewed, the event (a page view, a signup, a quote opened, a step of the door designer), the source that brought you (campaign tags, a referring site, a link tag, and any ad click identifier in the link) and a timestamp. We store the browser family, not your full browser string, and we do not store your IP address. This is collected by us, in our own database, with no third-party analytics service.
- Homeowner design requests: if you send us a garage door design from our public page, we keep your name, phone number, email, postal code and address, the photo of your garage and the design you made, and the fact that you agreed to share them. We pass them to the garage door company we hand the request to, so it can contact you and quote the work, and to no one else. You can ask us to delete the request at any time.
How we use it
- To provide and operate the service: quoting, scheduling, invoicing, and email you ask us to send (quotes, receipts, invoices).
- To secure accounts, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
- To communicate with you about your account, the beta program, and product updates.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your business data to advertise to your customers.
Where your data lives
Customer data is stored in a Canadian data centre (Canada Central region), encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Each company's data is isolated with row-level security, so no other company on the platform can access it.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the service: database and authentication hosting, payment processing, transactional email, error monitoring, Google's Gemini API for the AI assistant, price-sheet import and photo opening detection, and OpenStreetMap services for address lookup and routing on the schedule map. The Data Processing Agreement lists each one and what it receives.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can request account and data deletion at any time from inside the app or by emailing us; we honour deletion requests within 30 days, except where the law requires us to retain records (e.g., tax and billing records).
Your rights
You may access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Contact us at hello@garagedoornet.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will notify account owners by email before the changes take effect.
